Forum congratulates oneworld on 25th anniversary milestone

The Hong Kong Aviation Forum congratulates oneworld on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.

oneworld was launched on 1 February 1999 by its founding members, including home carrier Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, British Airways, and Qantas, to increase connectivity and flexibility for passengers and to reward frequent flyer customers with special benefits and privileges. Since then, oneworld has grown to include 13 of the world’s top airlines, 26 affiliate airlines, and a oneworld connect partner.

More than 330,000 airline professionals are employed across oneworld member airlines, delivering smooth and memorable travel experiences.

The alliance also celebrates diversity, uniqueness and inclusivity, making every customer feel welcomed and valued. oneworld reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability in January 2024 by becoming the first airline alliance to join the IATA CO2 Connect programme, contributing operational data to the aviation authority’s emissions calculator, which establishes a carrier’s carbon footprint.

'We recognise and commend oneworld's contribution to the global aviation industry, specifically in enhancing connectivity, expanding market catchment, and promoting sustainability, inclusive, and diversity. As the alliance continues to evolve and set new standards in global aviation, we look forward to witnessing its continued success and positive impact on the industry,' the spokesperson for the forum said.
