HKAF expresses condolences on the Passing of HRH Prince Philip

On behalf of all the members of the Hong Kong Aviation Forum, we send our heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty The Queen, the Royal Family, and the people of the United Kingdom on the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.


His Royal Highness was a man of many hobbies, including flying.


His Royal Highness learned to fly all types of aircraft. He gained his Royal Air Force wings in 1953, his helicopter wings in 1956 and his private pilot's licence in 1959. His Royal Highness achieved 5,986 hours in 59 types of aircraft. The Duke's final flight was on 11th August 1997 from Carlisle to Islay, following which he has stopped flying.
