Hong Kong Aviation Forum congratulates HKIA on the commissioning of the Three-Runway System

The Hong Kong Aviation Forum would like to offer its heartfelt congratulations to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on the commissioning of the Three-Runway System tomorrow. This significant achievement marks the beginning of a new era for Hong Kong’s aviation industry, greatly enhancing HKIA’s capacity and further solidifying its position as one of the world’s leading international aviation hubs.

The Three-Runway System is a transformative development that will substantially increase HKIA’s ability to handle both passenger and cargo traffic, ensuring the airport remains a vital gateway for global connectivity. With the expansion of Terminal 2 and the addition of a new Terminal 2 Concourse, HKIA is well-positioned to support the long-term growth of Hong Kong’s aviation sector, creating new opportunities for airlines, passengers, and the broader aviation ecosystem alike.

In addition to the Three-Runway System, HKIA is embarking on ambitious plans to evolve from a City Airport into an Airport City, enhancing multi-modal connectivity and fostering commercial development. These plans include the expansion of AsiaWorld Expo and the establishment of 11 SKIES, a new retail, dining, and entertainment destination. HKIA is also committed to sustainability and technological innovation as part of its long-term development.

The completion of the Three-Runway System is a landmark achievement that ensures Hong Kong’s continued leadership in global aviation. The Hong Kong Aviation Forum looks forward to the new era of opportunities for our home hub and the broader aviation industry.
