As we celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Hong Kong Aviation Forum, I'm excited to reflect on the remarkable progress we’ve made and the milestones we’ve achieved together over the past year.
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you. Your unwavering support, enthusiasm, and commitment to our community have been essential to our continued success and growth.
To mark this special occasion, we’ve launched a new brand campaign, 'Sky is the Limit', symbolised by an infinity sign resembling a reversed eight. This represents our relentless pursuit of excellence and serves as a reminder that we are a space where ideas soar and possibilities are endless. We will continue to reach new heights as we work towards becoming a leading aviation community and a trusted source of aviation news.
This year, we’ve witnessed significant developments in Hong Kong's aviation industry. Notably, the official commissioning of the Three Runway System at Hong Kong International Airport strengthens Hong Kong’s status as a global aviation hub and paves the way for future growth.
Our flagship airline group, Cathay, has also made impressive progress in its recovery. The Group announced plans to return to 100% of its pre-pandemic flights by January 2025, and expand its network to 100 destinations by the end of 2025—surpassing the 99 it served before the pandemic. With a substantial $100 billion investment over the next seven years, Cathay is positioning Hong Kong's aviation industry for strong and sustainable growth.
The Forum itself has made a notable impact over the year. Our coverage of Cathay’s flight cancellations and HK Express's new baggage fare system was widely shared and discussed across both local and international media outlets, reinforcing our role as a trusted source of aviation news.
On social media, our presence has grown significantly. We’re excited to have nearly 8,000 followers on Facebook, more than 5,000 on LinkedIn, almost 4,000 on Threads, and over 2,900 on Instagram—numbers that reflect the strength and vibrancy of our community.
As the year comes to a close, I would like to thank each of you once again for your ongoing participation and enthusiasm. Your contributions make this forum a unique and dynamic space for all who are passionate about aviation.
I would also like to take a moment to recognise our moderators, whose dedication ensures that the forum remains a welcoming, respectful, and diverse environment for everyone. Your tireless efforts behind the scenes are truly appreciated.
