Dear Members,
Today marks the sixth anniversary of the Hong Kong Aviation Forum, and here I thank you all for your wholehearted support for the forum.
I pay tribute to our moderators, who allow all our discussions to proceed in an open yet respectful manner smoothly, especially those who served as editors of our social media platforms, blog, and website—they disseminated the latest Hong Kong travel restrictions and helped many people fly to Hong Kong without stress amid harsh restrictions.
I also pay tribute to those who are working in the industry; thank you so much for your selfless sacrifices over the past few years under extremely challenging conditions.
In my message last year, I said we were moving closer to the goal of ending the pandemic. This year, we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Nearly all countries have now lifted their quarantines for travellers, and the aviation industry is now returning.
Here in Hong Kong, we welcomed the end of all restrictions on arrivals a few days earlier and also bid farewell to other travel restrictions.
We also welcomed the return of the Cathay Pacific Group fleet from Alice Springs, Australia. The birds are now back in the air where they are supposed to be—traffic figures gradually improve, flights are restored, and travel sentiment increases.
The worst is now over, and Hong Kong will surely strive again as an international aviation hub. I wish the aviation forum and industry prosperity. I wish you all the best in the coming year.
Thank you so much!
