Regarding a media report on the Government targeting an end to hotel quarantine in November, the spokesperson for the Hong Kong Aviation Forum's response is as follows:
We appreciate the recent efforts made by the Government to reopen internationally and restore Hong Kong's reputation. We urge the hotel quarantine to be lifted as soon as possible.
The implementation of the Designated Quarantine Hotel (DQH) scheme, which requires travellers to undergo mandatory hotel quarantine in a DQH, has deterred travellers from visiting Hong Kong, and the harsh travel restrictions have severely harmed Hong Kong's reputation as an international aviation hub.
In the meantime, we expect the Government to ease restrictions on passenger flight crews to allow airlines to increase flights operating to Hong Kong.
We also hope that the Government to lift or suitably adjust the pre-departure testing requirements, as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) labs have become more difficult to find since most countries lifted or relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, adding inconvenience for travellers.
