The Airport Authority Hong Kong has unveiled its new development brand, ‘SKYTOPIA’, as part of its Airport City blueprint. The ambitious plan reimagines the role of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as not merely a transportation hub but as a world-leading destination integrating commerce, culture, art, entertainment, and leisure.

‘SKYTOPIA’ aims to capitalise on HKIA’s strategic location and unique advantages while harnessing land and marine resources in its vicinity. Key features include Hong Kong’s first one-stop art hub combining creation, appreciation, and trading, as well as the city’s first dedicated art storage facility. Other highlights include the Airport Bay Marina, which will be Hong Kong’s largest yacht bay with over 500 berths, the largest water recreation area in the city, and the Jet Fresh Market, offering gourmet products from around the globe.

The blueprint also includes the second phase of AsiaWorld-Expo, featuring the city’s largest indoor performance venue with a capacity of 20,000 spectators, as well as a sportainment complex that combines sports, adventure, and entertainment. Visitors can also expect a luxury marine resort, a 1.5-kilometre CoveWalk promenade with a central piazza, and a green transport system incorporating automated car parks and autonomous vehicles.

Fred Lam, Chairman of AAHK, highlighted the transformative vision of the development:

We envisage that HKIA will not be just a place for passengers to board their flights or a portal for entering Hong Kong.
Our vision is to develop ‘SKYTOPIA’ into a landmark of its own, and a world-leading destination, attracting visitors from within Hong Kong and the prosperous Greater Bay Area, as well as major markets in Asia and the rest of the world.
AAHK’s role is to build the key infrastructure and create a platform for experts and investors to deliver services and products through their specially designed facilities.

The name ‘SKYTOPIA’ reflects the project’s key attributes and aspirations, combining ‘SKY’ and ‘IA’ (International Airport) to symbolise its airport lineage and global connectivity, while ‘TOP’ underscores the promise of top-tier experiences and its status as a leading regional landmark.
